Production & Quality

Food Processing & Post-Harvest Officer

Lead the safe and professional handling of our fresh produce from harvest through washing, preparation, drying, packaging and cold storage.

The opportunity

The officer will support GritGreen’s fresh-produce processing operation and help establish a disciplined, hygienic and traceable post-harvest system.

This role is suitable for a motivated food science, food technology or related professional who wants to build practical experience within a growing agribusiness.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect harvested produce.
  • Sort and remove damaged or unsuitable material.
  • Supervise washing and sanitisation procedures.
  • Coordinate cutting, drying and portioning.
  • Ensure hygienic packaging and correct labelling.
  • Maintain cold-chain and storage requirements.
  • Keep production, hygiene and traceability records.
  • Support implementation of GMP and HACCP principles.

Who we are looking for

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Technology, Food Processing, Food Technology, Horticulture or another relevant field.
  • Understanding of food hygiene, quality control and post-harvest handling.
  • Strong attention to detail and personal cleanliness.
  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Practical experience with fresh produce will be an advantage.
